Dun & Bradstreet – Fullerton India SME Awards 2008 announced

Dun & Bradstreet, the world's leading provider of global business information, knowledge and insight, in association with Fullerton India today announced the 'Dun & Bradstreet – Fullerton India SME Awards 2008' to recognize the contribution of SMEs across ten sectors to the Indian economy.
The awards in the small scale enterprises textiles category went to Eric Apparel Pvt. Ltd, Mumbai and Shrijee India Exports Pvt. Ltd again from Mumbai won the award in medium scale enterprises in the same category.
In the leather and leather goods category Kavis Fashions Private Limited, Mumbai and Stanley Life Styles Limited, Bangalore won awards in the small and medium scale enterprises respectively.
In the gems and jewellery section, Om Shri Antique Jewelry Private Limited from Jaipur received the award for the best small scale enterprise and Diagold Designs Limited, Mumbai in the medium scale enterprise category.
Speaking at the awards, Dr. Manoj Vaish, President & CEO – India, Dun & Bradstreet said, “D&B recognises that small and medium enterprises play a pivotal role in the economic development of the country. The awards and publication were conceptualized keeping in mind the growing contribution of SMEs to the Indian economy.
Our study revealed that for the sample considered, net sales for medium-sized companies grew by as much as 37% year-on-year in FY07, as compared to a 32% growth for small sized companies. However, in terms of net profit, small-sized firms turned out to be more resilient with 58% y-o-y growth as compared to 26% growth for medium-sized firms.”
