FDDI organises meet on placement linked skill development

He further said that "Selection of the trainees will be done through a screening committee, especially designed for the purpose and having representatives from Department for Industrial Policy and Promotion, Government of India and the local industry."

Regarding the eligibility of the candidates, Mr. Shukla said, "The candidate should have attained the age of 18 years at the time of joining the programme and should have reading & writing capability, & aptitude for the training. The candidate should be unemployed at the time of joining the training programme."

Relevant information in the form of specially designed booklet, & Swayam Siddha Manuals (the art of self learning) of FDDI, will be provided during the training programme to the trainees.

"The centre would be having a capacity to train 6480 workers in three years of time & then the trained people will be provided job in the leather units." said Mr Shashi Bhushan Shukla, IRS, Secretary, FDDI.

Mr. Shahroo Mohsin, Vice-President of the Agra Footwear Manufacturers and Exporters Chamber (AFMEC), said, "There is severe shortage of trained manpower in the footwear and leather industry across all levels specially at the shop floor level, which holds significant proportion of the workforce engaged in the industry."

Mr. Puran Dawar, Managing Director, Agra Footwear Infrastructure Development Company Ltd., said that "Through the 'Placement Linked Skill Development Programme' the industry will get respite from the acute trained manpower crunch."

Upon the successful completion of the training programme, the candidate will be awarded a certificate of achievement and the relevant details of all the successful trainees will also be displayed at the website www.fddiindia.com.

There was an interactive session after the lectures. The seminar was highly informative and was participated by large number of industrialists of Agra and was a great success.
