The EU is particularly turning out to be a happy hunting ground for exporters from Vietnam. Exports ads well as imports are on the rise, especially with countries like Netherlands, where the two way trade has reached US $1.68 billion in the first ten months of 2008, up 23.8 percent over the same period of 2007.

Exports, off course from Vietnam to the Netherlands accounted for the lions share and stood at $1.24 billion, again up by 32.2 percent while imports from Netherland touched only $440 million. By the end of the year the total value of the two way trade is expected to attain $2-2.2 billion.

The primary item of exports from Vietnam has been footwear which has achieved a high growth rate in spite of anti-dumping duties imposed by the countries of the European Union. Vietnam is considered one of the top four trading partners of the Netherlands in Asia along with India, China and Japan.
