Australian Shoe Fair from February 13-15

The AUSTRALIAN SHOE FAIR is recognised as the premier buying event for the footwear industry covering range styles including men's, women's, children's and comfort and fit. The Fair offers buyers from the Australasian region the ultimate opportunity to discover the latest products for the Spring/Summer season and liaise with key suppliers, all under one roof. With the February fair the 7th in a line of highly successful shows, the AUSTRALIAN SHOE FAIR remains a must attend event on the buying calendar.
To date, a number of exciting labels have already confirmed their participation, including a range of established international labels from the UK, Italy, Malaysia, China, Colombia, Thailand, Vietnam and more. A key focus developing among international exhibitors are ranges featuring environmental and social responsibility, said organiser, Marie Kinsella from Australian Exhibitions & Conferences.
"There's an undercurrent of interest in seeing where people, profit and planet can meet," Ms Kinsella said, "we are seeing many international brands taking the lead in producing environmentally friendly footwear with a social conscience, with many Australian companies following suit.”
New Colombian brand "Taibano" has selected the Fair for its launch of high quality shoes 100% hand made by villagers in Taibano using their native patterns and designs. Vietnamese label, Binh Dinh, will showcase a range of “eco fashion” with their latest range of shoes created in natural canvas while Italian label Macanna will release a range of elegant and environmentally friendly designs which are dyed naturally without chemical coatings.
During a time of economic challenges for the footwear industry, the AUSTRALIAN SHOE FAIR will invest additional support to drive key buyers to the Fair. Initiatives include the announcement of two free retail workshops designed to guide retailers in making effective purchasing and merchandising decisions. International trainer, Mark Davis from The Davis Consulting Group, will speak on key issues at the core of the retail business.
The AUSTRALIAN SHOE FAIR will be held twice a year; 13-15 February 2009 (Spring-Summer edition) in Sydney and 30 August-1 September 2009 (Fall-Winter edition) in Melbourne.
