Since long time FDDI is making efforts to make collaboration with international institutes. FDDI has been successful in making collaboration with PFI, Germany, Fashion Institute of Technology, America, Nagold, Germany, The Textile Institute, U.K. etc. The collaboration with SATRA has taken shape.

Stating the collaboration of FDDI's ITC with SATRA as a move in the right direction, Mr. Rajeev Lakhara, IRS, Managing Director, FDDI, said, "We have been receiving enumerable requests from the industry to get the SATRA accreditation for FDDI laboratories. The test reports of the accredited laboratories are more acceptable in the international business."

SATRA was formed in 1919 to serve the footwear industry but has since expanded to serve other consumer industry sectors including furniture, safety products, clothing, floorcoverings, leathergoods and fabric care.

SATRA is the world's leading research and technology centre of its kind and employs more than 180 scientific, technical and support staff across two sites in the UK and a China office.

The collaboration is on the anvil which includes:-

•FDDI and SATRA are also exploring the possibility of collaboration in research and development.
