According to the Information Office of State Council, new job creation in cities and towns was generally stable and at the same time urban and rural incomes continued to increase.
11.13 million new jobs were generated in the year 2008, though those who registered themselves as unemployed in urban areas grew by a marginal 0.2 percent to touch 4.2 percent.
Per capita disposable income of urban residents in 2008 stood at Yuan 15,781, a year-on-year increase of 14.5 percent and after considering inflation the actual growth was 8.48 percent.
At the same time per capita net income of rural residents was Yuan 4761, up 15.0 percent from the previous year, after deducting price factors, the actual growth was 8.0 percent.
By the end of 2008, household savings deposits marked Yuan 21.8 trillion, an increase of Yuan 4.5353 trillion from that of whole of 2007.
