Chinese delegation sweeps EU of its feet with huge export orders

The Chinese Trade and Investment Promotion Mission, during its four-day trip from February 24th to 28th to Germany, Switzerland, Spain, and UK, was able to garner a export order to the tune of US $13 billion, which has excited the whole of Europe and has raised the hopes of the whole Chinese exporting community.

The mission, led by Minister Chen Deming of the Ministry of Commerce, concluded its tour with a meeting with over 500 UK entrepreneurs on February 27, in which 11 contracts were signed for orders worth $2 billion, which included, textiles, automobiles, commodity metals and a host of other finished products.

The Chinese delegation and Germany signed purchase orders totaling to a flabbergasting $10 billion to supply a varied range of goods and services like machinery manufacturing, electronics, automotive, textiles, etc, while with Switzerland and Spain inked purchase contracts worth $300 million and $320 million respectively.

Mr Chen Deming summed up the whole trip by quoting a Chinese saying, “Getting in to action is better than just sitting and discussing”. A month ago, the Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao's visit to these four European countries had helped in conveying assurance and this mission was able to put a stamp of confidence in these very troubled times.
