A 50 member strong Chinese delegation visited Sri Lanka recently, which opened up new avenues of economic cooperation between the two countries, more so in the chemicals and leather sector.
The head of the delegation, Mr Wang, who is also the Vice-President of the Light Industry Association, said that, “Sri Lanka is an excellent location for investment and the delegation got to know about the generous incentives available”.
The companies associated with the Light Industries Association of China, put together make up the largest bloc of manufacturers of leather goods and churns out around I million varieties with 1,300 brands and an output of 500 million units.
The Chinese delegation was very much impressed with the Sri Lankan quality and have promised to get in to joint ventures to make Sri Lanka a platform to export Chinese goods to other countries like the US and the European Union.
