The Minister for Industry, Ms Shakya announced that the government would not declare a state of industrial turmoil and crisis, but would implement policies and measures to solve the industrial problems faced by the business community.

Ms Shakya said this while addressing a delegation of members from different trade association bodies, including Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), who had earlier urged the Nepalese government to declare a state of industrial crisis in the country.

The members of the trade associations have put up various demands, including waiver of demand fee for electricity, a right to close units if requisite government help is not forthcoming, frame policy for 'no work, no pay' and declare industrial zones as no strike areas.

According to Mr Joshi, President of FNCCI, if the government does not come forward to help the industry on an urgent basis, many companies would face closure in the next few weeks, leading to mass un-employment among workers.
