On May 12th, 2009, WRAP ASIA will co-host an educational seminar on Social System Management with Bureau Veritas (Thailand) Ltd., the Thai Department of Export Promotion, and the Thai Ministry of Labor.
The event, to be held at the DEP's International Trade Training Institute in Bangkok, Thailand, aims to bring social compliance awareness to the furniture, housewares, and home decor manufacturing sectors in Thailand.
As part of WRAP's expansion to hard goods categories via the WRAP Universal Code of Ethical Conduct (UCEC), this 3-hour seminar will cover updates of local Thai labor law and social systems implementation.
ABOUT WRAP:
Headquartered in Arlington, Virginia, WRAP is an independent, non-profit organization and is dedicated to certifying factories that engaged in lawful, humane and ethical manufacturing.
Over the years, WRAP's comprehensive factory-based model helped it grow into the world's largest certification program for the apparel industry - over 1700 factories from around 60 countries participated in 2008 alone.
Today, WRAP's facility certification program is expanding even further, moving beyond just apparel to include all labor-intensive sectors, such as hotels, jewelry, furniture, construction and so on.
