Some of the UK's leading retail bosses will consider how best to deal with the recession and how to plan for the recovery at the British Retail Consortium's (BRC's) Annual Retail Conference.

Sir Terry Leahy, Tesco's Chief Executive, will deliver the first major speech at the conference.

Ian Cheshire, Kingfisher's Chief Executive, and Paul Foley, Aldi UK's Group Managing Director, are among the other high-profile speakers at the BRC event, which is sponsored by MasterCard Europe.

An audience of 300 delegates will discuss topics including how to understand customers, deliver value and manage employees effectively during the recession as well as planning the route to recovery.

This year's BRC Conference is on Thursday 11 June at the Grange St. Paul's Hotel, London.

Stephen Robertson, BRC Director General, said: “We have an outstanding line-up of the UK's top retail bosses speaking at the BRC's Annual Retail Conference. It will be fascinating to hear how leading retailers from all parts of the High Street are steering their businesses through these tough trading conditions and how they plan to adjust when the recovery starts. This is an excellent opportunity to learn from some of the UK's most successful companies.”

Hany Fam, General Manager, UK & Ireland Markets, MasterCard, said: "I'm delighted to be addressing the BRC Annual Conference this year. In this challenging economic climate, it's crucial to understand how businesses and consumers are behaving so that we can respond and prepare ourselves for the road ahead. This event is an excellent opportunity to exchange views and discuss strategies for navigating our way out of the downturn."
