Tanneries demand zero rating on inputs

The Chairman of Pakistan Tanners Association, Mr Afzal Husain demanded that the government should immediately declare a zero rating of dyes and chemicals used by the tanneries to rescue the leather sector.
He said the government has totally ignored the leather sector in the just announced budget, although many promises had been made by the government officials to the representatives of the sector in the past.
The leather industry is the 2nd largest export earning sector representing highly dynamic and value added industry in leather and leather products besides being job oriented sector as it employs about 200,000 people directly.
