The All China Leather Exhibition (ACLE) will be held September 2-4, 2009 at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre. BASF will be located in Hall W2 in Booth D 11. This year main focus of BASF will lie on processes that offer unique economic and ecological benefits. The booth will display the range of innovative and established products and their utilization at all steps of the production sequence. As reliable, innovative and sustainable partner, BASF leather chemicals offer differentiation with Brilliant Solutions.

The growing importance of sustainability and the environment is emphasized by Joachim Henkmann, head of BASF's leather business in East Asia: “Our products and processes focus on environmentally friendly and economical solutions which ensure high-quality ecological products. This secures to meet the individual requirements for our customers. These demands will be satisfied by the expansion of our Basyntan and Relugan ranges.”

The BASF team of experts will be in attendance to advise customers and to inform them about our innovative new developments and our range of established, high-quality products.

Lepton Enhancer LT: Upgrading with easy to use microcapsules-
Lepton Enhancer LT offers low grade crust upgrading under standard tannery processing conditions. It effectively covers defects and irregularities while yielding the highest standards of print definition and retention. Lepton Enhancer LT is compatible with most finishing chemicals.

The lower application temperature is a means of avoiding unnecessary complications, the leather remains soft and the break is not impaired. Lepton Enhancer LT does not contain NMP and is free of organic solvents for eco-friendly application.

Astacin Top LP: For water based patent leather-
Astacin Top LP is the solution from BASF to achieve high gloss, transparency plus an elegant smooth surface on leather. This new water-based auxiliary for leather finishing is recommended for top coats of aqueous finishes and presents the closest alternative to solvent based patent finishing.

Astacin Top LP stands for first-rate leveling characteristics as well as high scratch resistance and good flexing properties. Astacin Top LP does not contain alkyl-tin compounds and has reduced airborne emissions in comparison to established standards, which makes it more environmentally compatible. It is recommended for all types of leather with a high gloss, especially for water-based patent leather.

Basyntan: Expansion of the range with formaldehyde free syntans-
The new range of formaldehyde free Basyntan tanning agents offers products for all kinds of leather articles, especially regarding eco-friendly leather for examples formaldehyde reduction.

All Basyntan products are based on sulfon tanning agents and for this reason offer high light fastness and heat resistance. Basyntan IS and FO are for filling and tightness, Basyntan AS is for innovative aluminium-sulfon and Basyntan UR has good lights fastness and heat resistance.
