Forty two years ago Alvaro Vaqueiro joined Stahl Mexic~ known then as Acabados Newark. He was appointed Managing Director in 1988 and since then has looked after Stahl's companies not only in Mexico but also in Colombia and Venezuela as well the company's business in Bolivia, Ecuador and Peru.

He retired at the end of 2009, a moment in time which staff and customers alike are already saying marks the end of an era in which he has worked hard and encouraged his staff to achieve successful results and to share ideas to everyone's benefit.

Alvaro is a well-known and highly respected personality in both the leather and Permuthane industries. He was a member and, at various times, president of the Mexican Leather Chemists and Technicians Association. He has also been a member and president of the Mexican Polyurethanes Institute. His staff often referred to him with great respect as "Ingenerio", recognition of a man who carried out his everyday work with absolute professionalism and dedication.

" His staff will remember him as an outstanding manager, fair and firm yet showing great kindness on those occasions when it was needed. The accomplishments of Stahl Mexico speak for themselves as a massive tribute to Alvaro who has been so instrumental in its growth and development to the present day. His leadership has often resulted in Stahl Mexico being called the "star performer".

Staff and customers alike will wish him a long and happy retirement with his wife Janine and their children Alvaro, Gerardo and Cristiane with their partners and grand children.
