MCC forays into medically engineered footwear market

MCC will introduce footgear in four categories – Revolutionary Footwear, Athletic Footwear, Arch Supports & Accessories. The Arch Supports & accessories will comprise of insoles prescribed by experts. The footwear is available in closed formats (shoes) and open forms (sandals). The wide range will cover footwear for athletics (jogging, walking, and hiking), casual wear (for various occasions) and also formals (for office).
MCC is recognized as Foot Solutions certified training center for India by Foot Solutions USA.
The solutions offered are customized and depending on the need of the patients the cost for the solutions will range from Rs.600 to Rs.20,000. Going forward, more International brands will be introduced.
Dr. Sudarshan Ballal, Medical Director, Manipal Health Systems added, “Our feet absorb about 1,000 tons of force a day, mostly on hard surfaces. Conventional shoes are created for just adornment and not for the critical needs of a foot crying out for freedom from bondage and confinement. Foot pain leads to decreased exercise, unhealthy weight gain and host of other mental, physical and physiological disorders. MHS hospitals and consultants are glad to be part of this innovation in Indian market.”

Chung Shi: Double rocker footwear with negative heel, it uses advanced mode of Masai Barefoot Technology which is proven to be effective in micro massage effect on the feet (experience a bare feet on bamboo). It helps in aligning the pelvis by facilitating a posterior tilt (low back curvature). Scientific studies show Chung Shi burns 50% higher calories than the normal walking shoes.
Orthofeet: An exclusive range for diabetic population, with its extra depth and width enables it to accommodate variations of foot - characterized by the normal feet in the morning, but swollen up by the end of the day – common with vascular problems.
A seamless inner environment of the shoe benefits diabetic people and those with disturbed sensations on feet. The easy-to-wear Velcro models with a breathable material on the vamp make it extra comfortable. For an added benefit it is recommended to wear it with a pair of seamless diabetic socks which can cushion and wick the sweat off.

Accessories - Thorlos Padded Socks, Doctor specified Diabetic socks, insoles: Padded in heel and metatarsal areas, knit effectively to provide breathability, wicks off sweat and is available in various models such as crew, mini crew and ankle height are few amongst others. These American Podiatric Association approved socks are available in white to make it easy to identify the oozing/bleeding areas.
Custom Orthotics (Insoles): benefits people with foot pain or discomfort due to walking imbalance. Imbalances such as flat feet, heel pain, knee pain and shin pain. Orthotics (Insoles) or shoe insoles re-align the foot and ankle bones to their neutral position, thereby restoring natural foot function; which in turn helps alleviate problems in other parts of the body. Orthotics (Insole) give a more even weight distribution, taking pressure of sore spots and they provide some shock absorption.
