Trained and motivated personnel plays a decisive role in sales and is growing ever more important with the rising demands customers make on shoe retailers.

In collaboration with the Shoe Institute (Das Schuhinstitut – DSI) and the German Federal Shoe Retailers' Association (Bundesverband des Deutschen Schuheinzelhandels e.V. – BDSE) the Sunday of GDS, 14 March 2010 from 10.00 am, will see the holding of the 23rd Sales Assistants' Day. The venue for the event is the conference room in Hall 8b which can be conveniently reached from Entrance North.

A total of three workshops provide sales staff with key specialist knowledge on current retail themes, trends and basic psychological principles in purchasing behaviour for them to use in their everyday working lives.

In the first workshop entitled “Full-Range Selling” speaker Annette von Czarnowski will be supplying tips on how to sell additional items that complement shoes or indeed first make them useful.

The question “Are your Customers better Informed about Trends than your Sales Staff?” is a provocative label for the second workshop. Here speaker Elisabeth Jall shows that specialist fashion knowledge is the key to success in shoe sales and explainswhat criteria are crucial here.

“Learning is like Sailing into the Wind – Effective Communication” and “Those who Stop are Driven Back” are two headings that lead into workshop number three with Hans Meurer.
This workshop will focus on the principles of effective communication for use in everyday work and for successful interaction with customers.

Participants can attend a total of two workshops as the events are held in parallel. (Sunday, 14 March 2010 from 10.00 am to 11.00 am and from 11.00 am until 12.00 noon in the conference room in Hall 8b).

The forthcoming GDS – International Event for Shoes & Accessories and GLOBAL SHOES – leading trade show for sourcing will be held at Düsseldorf Exhibition Centre from 12 to 14 March 2010. Altogether approx. 1,120 exhibitors from 40 countries (correct as of 22 February)will be presenting the latest shoe and bag styles. GDS features over 1,750 shoe collections for Autumn/Winter 2010/11 and trends for the current season.
