Since March 2008, the Government of Islamabad has sent around 1890 exhibitors to participate in 136 foreign trade fairs and exhibitions held in various countries around the world. Participation in such international trade events offers opportunities to the exhibitors to display their products to international buyers and fetch various export orders.
An official from the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) said that exhibitors' participation in trade fairs has played a crucial role in increasing exports of the country during the current fiscal.
TDAP also provides subsidies to the exhibitors participating in such trade fairs vis-à-vis, fifty per cent to textile products, sixty per cent to other core products and seventy per cent to development products. In addition, they also provide 50 per cent subsidy above all, to women entrepreneurs encouraging them to participate in such trade fairs.
It also allocates few specialized events to the trade bodies. Besides, a 50 percent subsidy on space rent and stall set up is also offered to these trade bodies.
