Dollar General Corporation announced the promotion of two senior executives, John Flanigan to executive vice president of global supply chain and Bob Ravener to executive vice president and chief people officer. Ravener was previously Dollar General's senior vice president and chief people officer. Flanigan was senior vice president of global logistics. Both executives have been with the company since 2008, and these promotions are in recognition of their contributions to the overall success of Dollar General.

“Since joining Dollar General, both John and Bob have made notable and significant contributions to the company's growth and success,” said Rick Dreiling, Dollar General's chairman and CEO. “They are exceptional leaders and highly respected experts in their fields. They are valuable assets to our organization, and I look forward to their continued leadership and success at Dollar General.”

Flanigan joined Dollar General as senior vice president of global supply chain in May 2008, bringing more than 25 years of management experience in retail logistics. Prior to Dollar General, Flanigan was group vice president of logistics and distribution for Longs Drug Stores Corp. Previously, he served as vice president of logistics for Safeway, Inc., and he has also held distribution and logistics leadership positions at Vons, Specialized Distribution Management Inc. and Crum & Crum Logistics. Flanigan earned a master's degree from Indiana University and a bachelor's degree from Washington State University.

Ravener joined Dollar General as senior vice president and chief people officer in August 2008, overseeing all of Dollar General's human resources initiatives. Before joining Dollar General, Ravener was most recently senior vice president of U.S. partner resources for Starbucks Coffee Company. Prior to Starbucks, Ravener served in senior human resources roles at The Home Depot, as well as at PepsiCo and Footstar, Inc., after beginning his career as a submarine officer in the U.S. Navy. Ravener earned an MBA from New York University and a bachelor's degree from the U.S. Naval Academy.
