Project to make SMEs go green

A project has been launched on April 22 in Hanoi, for providing assistance to the small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to incline towards greener growth.

This Euro 2.3 million project titled, 'Sustainable Product Innovation in Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia' reinforces innovative power of industry to perk up the quality of Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia made products, in both environmental and societal terms.

The project aims to reach out to at least 500 companies functioning in textiles, apparel, footwear, handicraft and food processing & food packaging sectors, is financially supported by the SWITCH-in-Asia Program.

As per the Ambassador and Head of the EU mission in Vietnam Mr. Sean Doyle, the project would help in improving the sustainable production and consumption in Vietnam, and offer its sensible contribution to legislation at the time when the Vietnamese Government is framing socio-economic strategy for the period 2011-2020.

A representative office in Hanoi will be opened under this project, in line with assistance offices in Vientiane (Laos), and Phnom Penh (Cambodia).

These offices will perform as a stable network offering help to SMEs in managing and conducting relevant researches with providing information regarding environmental-friendly products and their marketing.
