LCCI urges Govt to put off VAT in budget proposals

Plastic Scrap dealers requested that the government should decrease duty on plastic scrap (HS Code 3915.0000) form 25% to 10 % on immediate basis.

Government should reduce ITP of Plastic scrap to 300 $ from the existing 400 $ to provide a level playing field to the businessmen related to this sector. Government should allow import of plastic scrap on commercial basis, as the import of plastic scrap is very important to keep the prices of plastic product in the reach of common people. The exporters and importers of Automobile Spare Parts asked the government to reduce the custom tariff rates and sales tax rates by 10% and income tax to reasonable extent.

It is prayed that the fix duty up to Rs. 500/- should be charged on Digital Cameras at the stage of Import and then VAT can be charged at the time of sale which will add towards the revenue to the Govt. of Pakistan. The digital printing inks importers demanded that the digital printing inks are imported in Pakistan from US and UAE and are under-invoiced, thus this malpractice should be checked to save the related industry in Pakistan.

The Paint Industry is a vital industry in Pakistan. The representatives of this industry's proposals are regarding reduction of the custom duty tariff, refund of advance sales tax and export of paints especially to Afghanistan. Chemical and Dyes Industry asked the government to change the rules and procedures for the import of raw materials of certain chemicals.

Bicycle industry is providing employment to a large number of skilled and unskilled work forces and contributes towards development of engineering industry in the country. Thus, the Bicycle Industry requested the government to please continue with the facility of zero rating on the supply chain of following commodities under the proposed VAT Law on the basis of above mentioned facts with larger national economic interest and socio economic implications. Tools and Hardware industry pleads to rationalize the Custom Duty Tariff for the goods not made in Pakistan.
