The development of the UK Fashion & Textile Association (UKFT) took a further step forward on Thursday 6 May 2010 with the formal appointment, with immediate effect, of Eric Musgrave as director general. Musgrave succeeds John Wilson, who retires at the end of June after a 38-year association with the sectors' trade bodies but will continue in a part-time capacity as a second deputy chairman. Musgrave joined UKFT in January 2010 as director general designate.
Concurrent with Wilson's retirement from full-time employment, after 26 years' service to the industry, Elizabeth Fox, a deputy director and company secretary of UKFT, will relinquish these roles, but will continue as executive director of the National Childrenswear Association (NCWA).
“We will all miss Liz's wise counsel and I am very pleased that she will be retaining her links with UKFT through NCWA,” said Peter Lucas, UKFT's chairman.
In addition to these announcements at the association's agm,Lucas also confirmed that UKFT would be moving to its new headquarters, at 3 Queen Square, in the heart of Bloomsbury, London, in September.
“Our new home will enable us to better serve our members' interests and to showcase their products in an exciting, modern space. We will have facilities for large- and small-scale presentations, as well as networking gatherings and more formal business events.”
The UK Fashion & Textile Association (UKFT) is the umbrella organisation that represents the fashion and textile sector both domestically and overseas. Its members include major suppliers to high street retailers and brands.
