Chinese foreign trade shoots up in 2010

China's import and export value reached US $855.99 billion in the first four months of this year, up 42.7 percent year on year, according to the data released by the General Administration of Customs.

Compared with the first four months of 2009, total import and export value increased by 8 percent, of which exports increased by 2.6 percent and imports rose by 14.2 percent. Total import and export value in April this year grew by 7.6 percent year on year.

General trade in exports stood at $194.88 billion, up 27.2 percent year on year and imports touched $234.17 billion, up 66.4 percent year on year. Overall general trade witnessed a deficit this year, against a surplus in the same period of 2009.
