According to the company sources, world's second biggest sports goods manufacturer – Adidas AG, anticipates that China and Russia, in the long run, are likely to constitute half of its overall business.

The German company intends to start over 2,500 outlets in the smaller cities of China by 2015 and also plans for an expansion from the present 550 cities to 1,400 cities. This will enable the company to reclaim its leadership position in the Chinese market by 2015.

Adidas is, at present, behind the local sports good manufacturer Li Ning and Nike, the leading producer of sports goods in China. The company is likely to target the smaller cities of China with specific products designed to meet the lifestyle requirements as well as the disposable incomes of people in these cities.

Company sources are confident that it will reclaim its original No. 2 position next year. The company is also likely to roll out a new brand 'Neo' to target the youth market in the smaller cities.
