Jodhpur declared a mega leather cluster

The city of Jodhpur in Rajasthan has been declared as one of the seven mega leather clusters to be set up across the country.
This was announced by Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Mr Anand Sharma, while laying the foundation stone of Footwear Design and Development Institute (FDDI).
The Central Government has already sanctioned funds for the setting up of mega leather clusters to strengthen the leather industry.
About 10 million youngsters will enter the country's workforce in the next decade, according to Mr. Sharma. He explained that skill upgrading through institutes like FDDI is necessary to provide job opportunities to the youth.
