Amaike debuts world's lightest fabric by weight in USA

A Japanese textile expert, Mototsugu Amaike has debuted what he calls the lightest fabric by weight in the US.

According to an Amaike USA press release, one metre of the ‘Super Organza’ which is also claimed as the thinnest fabric weighs only 5 grams, or the weight of a nickel.

The fabric which was first created high-definition TVs, caught the attention of haute couture designers in Asia & Europe.

Mototsugu Amaike is now releasing Super Organza in the United States through their newly named North American distributor Amaike USA.

The North American expansion is spearheaded by Amaike USA’s also newly appointed chief marketing officer & creative director Naomi Cunningham.

“Her out-of-the-box thinking and innovative marketing campaigns promises to make waves in the textile industry,” the press release adds.

The Amaike USA website informs that the fabric has been created from a very fine seven denier polyester organza thread, about one-fifth the thickness of human hair.

“Our unique and highly advanced processes enable us to produce this very light fabric weighing just 10 grams per square meter and also a super fine fabric of only 5 grams,” the website informs.

The website also adds that Amaike Super Organza's lightweight fabric blocks the draught of air conditioning in summer and provides thermal insulation in winter. (AR)
