Brazilian Textile and Apparel Industry Association (ABIT) Director and President of the Organizing Committee for the Men's Fashion Show, Sônia Hess, announced the debut of a new event in Brazil geared specifically to the female public: the Women's Fashion Show.

According to the businesswoman, the first edition of the event should take place the end of June, running parallel to the Men's Fashion Show, which takes place at the Frei Caneca Shopping Mall, in São Paulo.

“The name is already registered at ABIT, just like the SMM,” she informed. “We should receive new brands, besides those that already participate in the Men's Show and that also produce women's collections."

"Our idea is to fill that gap,” declared Hess during a press conference that included the presence of FENIN director, Júlio Viana, ABIT director-superintendent, Fernando Pimentel and the directors of the Brazil South Lingerie Show, Ana Flôres and Indhira Pêra.

At the conference, Fernando Pimentel spoke of the expectations of the economic scenario for the Brazilian textile chain in 2006.

“We believe it will be better than 2005, with regard to the domestic market. However, it may still be delicate in relation to exports, because of a series of factors, such as the economic policy, among others. In general terms, we should show a growth of around 4% this year, he projected.”

Taking advantage of the spirit of novelties, FENIN director, Júlio Viana, said the Fair's next edition, in 2007, will have an even bigger area. “For next year, with the new installations, we should have an area of almost 45 thousand square meters, or 12 thousand more square meters than we have,” he affirmed. Also concerning FENIN, the participation of the Brazil South Lingerie Show was confirmed.

“Certainly all of our exhibiter's expectations were more than exceeded on the first day of the Fair alone. We expect to double the number of exhibiters at our Show here at FENIN in 2007, but we must maintain the almost 50 companies that already participate in the São Paulo event,” reinforced Ana Flôres.
