Karnataka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) in collaboration with Gems and Jewellery Export Promotion Council, Chennai is planning a six-day 'Coloured gemstones, diamond identification and grading course cum gold hallmarking' workshop.
The Indian Diamond Institute of Surat that professionally conducts such events has taken the inititative to train people in jewellery sector and help them upgrade their skills to compete in international market.
Mahendra Ladhad, Secretary, KCCI, informed that the 30 participants would learn methods to identify and grade coloured gemstones and diamonds on visual basis and also by employing scientific instruments.
KCCI had taken initiative to bring together various saraff associations in north Karnataka and is planning to establish north Karnataka Jewellers' Federation to promote the traditional jewellery business in north Karnataka.
The workshop will take place at Hubli from February 9-14 2006.
