BSF concludes first phase of skill upgradation in Punjab

Business School of Fashion, which is the nucleus of the Fashion Technology Park, has been taking sustained initiatives towards empowering rural women with skills and knowledge of innovative processes & products and indigenous craft knowledge systems for making their creations market driven.
These initiatives are also oriented towards developing business models to engineer a low cost economic revolution by value adding the grass root craft sector through design interventions in Punjab.
“The technical and market oriented training provided by the Business School of Fashion (BSF) has not only enhanced our skill sets but also a unique quest to preserve our traditional art & culture”, these were the views expressed by the first batch of 30 'group leaders' covering 30 different villages near and around Lalru today at the conclusion of the first phase of BSF training programme.
The first phase of five day training programme that began on 22 August concluded today with women craftspersons exploring their latent artistic capabilities under the expert guidance of BSF experts and other trainers, Ms Shameer Kaur, Principal of Baba Farid ITC, Mohali, a textile designer by profession and Ms Niyati Singh who is basically a Fashion Designer from NIFT, Gandhi Nagar and has worked in the fashion industry at various capacities.
The main objective of five-day skill upgradation capsule was to train the rural folks on colour concepts, visualization and applications particularly for reflecting festival seasons and moods.
