Arabian Exhibition Management (AEM), organizer of the country's premier international exhibitions and Jewellery Arabia, and Bahrain Convention and Exhibition Authority (BCEA) are on collision course over the use of Bahrain International Exhibition Centre (BIEC) this year.

Understandably, the AEM cannot use the BIEC this year, unless it pays its debt of BD108,000 in unpaid fees over five years, which the AEM owes to the Government.

BCEA further adds that AEM has also been duping the authority with inaccurate calculations of rental space taken up by the show, to halve its fees.

It termed as "irresponsible and inaccurate" the statement circulated by the AEC to exhibitors claiming that the authority was in breach of contract by refusing the company use of BIEC for this year's show scheduled for November 7 to 11.

The principal reasons for taking such action was to require AEM to pay to the authority fees for Jewellery Arabia Exhibition received by it since 2000 and not paid over to BCEA, in spite of repeated demands for payment, in accordance with the Agreement to which AEM refers and the National Audit Court insists on, said the BCEA.

Responsibility for any cancellation or postponement of this year's Jewellery Arabia lies entirely with AEM, according to BCEA.
