National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), an autonomous body set up under the guidance of Textile Ministry in 1986, plans to launch an extension centre in Rae Bareli, Uttar Pradesh.
The Ministry has decided to set up an extension centre, which will operate from a hired premise for a period of three years which will incur a cost of Rs122.5 million.
The extension centre will start its operations from the academic session 2007-08. This would ease pressure on NIFT's existing center in Delhi.
This national level institute is fully funded and supported by Indian Government for preparing and training professionals to meet the challenges of the competitive global market.
NIFT also helps to promote India's exports in textiles, garments, lifestyle products and other fashion goods in the international arena.
The institute has seven centres located at New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad, Gandhinagar and Bangalore.
