IILF closes successfully

The 22nd annual edition of India International Leather Fair (IILF) organized by India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO) concluded on February 3, 2007 on a successful note. The event was the biggest so far in terms of participation level, range of products on display, turnout of visitors, importers and business visitors.

India International Leather Fair (IILF) 2007 was inaugurated by Shri Dayanidhi Maran, Union Minister of Communications and Information Technology at 6.00 pm on January 31, 2007 at Chennai Trade Centre. The Inaugural Function was presided over by Shri Jairam Ramesh, Union Minister of State for Commerce. Shri T.M. Anbarasan, Minister for Labour and Employment, Government of Tamil Nadu was a special invitee. Shri N.N. Khanna, Chairman, India Trade Promotion Organisation, Shri Mukhtarul Amin, Chairman, Council for Leather Exports and Shri Habib Hussain, Vice Chairman, CLE were also present on the occasion.

IILF showcased a comprehensive range of products and services relating to leather industry – machinery for tanning, shoe making, dryers, stitching and sewing machines, finishing machines, chemicals for leather industry; footwear and footwear components, leather garments; fashion accessories, leather goods like travel ware, purses, wallets, belts, gloves, portfolios, hand bags and finished leather. The display included publications and consultancy services related to the leather industry.

The fair covered a net area of 7322 sqm attracting participation from 394 companies including, 138 from 21 overseas countries – Brazil, China, France, Germany, Indonesia, Iran, Italy, Kenya, South Korea, Netherlands, New Zealand, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, U.K., USA, Venezuela. In statistical terms, compared to IILF 2006, the current edition covered 25% more area and 20% more number of participants.
