Moda–ML/TexWeave for integration of clients & suppliers in textile industry

Moda-ML/TexWeave are the results of the European standardization initiative for electronic information exchange addressed to textile and clothing industry.
TexWeave was a standardisation initiative, started in 2005 and ended in 2006, with the objective to provide the Textile/Clothing (TC) sector with a framework for system interoperability; its specifications are based on standardised electronic document exchange (XML Schemas) on Internet and aim to foster their adoption in the real business supply chains.
It is the result of a long term work of the European industries that started in '90s with the EDITEX initiative based on EDIFACT technologies and is continuing in the new Internet based scenarios with projects like Moda-ML, eTexML, VISIT, eChain, CEN/ISSS TexSpin, CEN/ISSS TexWeave.
Moda-ML is a permanent group of initiative that, in parallel with the initiatives of CEN and of Euratex (European association for textile and apparel industry), aims to foster the adoption of a common B2B language.
Communication, establishment of pilots, production of material of analysis, yearly releases have accompanied the standardisation initiatives like TexSpin and TexWeave and have leaded to provide specifications for a large number of transactions between the actors of the textile clothing supply chain.
Still, these specifications are assumed as a starting point or an 'abilitator' for further Information and Technology (ICT) research projects.
In short: while the CEN/ISSS workshops (like Texspin or TexWeave) have the objective to define and formalise the consensus, Europe wide, on a specific and well defined set of specifications, Moda-ML aims to be the laboratory to apply them and to prepare the next ones.
