The U.S. Small Business Association named Professional Beauty Association (PBA) member Marilyn Ihloff 2008 Oklahoma Small Business Person of the Year.

President and founder of Ihloff Salon and Day Spa in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Ihloff built her empire through personal dedication and perseverance.

Winners were announced during an awards luncheon on March 27, 2008, at Rose State College Student Center.

Ihloff Salon and Day Spa originated as one small location with a single employee and has grown to include three locations with more than 140 employees, and sales nearing $6 million.

Ihloff was awarded this honor based on her companies staying power, growth in number of employees, increase in sales, innovativeness of product and contributions to community-oriented projects.

A longtime PBA member, Ihloff is also an elected PBA Salon/Spa Leadership Council Member who volunteers her time to make sure that PBA is always doing everything possible to continue to build PBA member businesses and the industry as a whole.

This year, she attended both Symposium 12 and the inaugural meeting of the PBA Best Practice Club, where 65 salon owners and mangers from salons and spas generating 2.5 million or more joined together to share best business practices.

All of PBA's Salon/Spa Section members can sign up for the Best Practice Club Workshops to learn about the best practices of owners like Marilyn Ihloff.
