ABIT, through Texbrasil, a Program that encourages exports of Brazilian textiles and apparel, developed in partnership with Apex-Brasil, brought seven international buyers to the International Children – Teen – Baby Fair (FIT).

The event was held June 24-27 at Expo Center Norte in São Paulo. Parallel to FIT, the buyers also had the opportunity to get to know the products from exhibiters who participated in the Opera Group – Professional Children's Fashion and Decoration Fair held January 22-26 in the city of São Paulo.

Luís Manuel Gómez, from Cielito, came directly from Colombia through ABIT. “This is the 1st time I come to this fair. It is a great opportunity to create partnerships.

Brazil already has its own style, as well as many companies that develop differentiated products with potential for the foreign market. Some brands stand out due to their design and colors.

Here we find many interesting clothes we can take back to our country. We are talking with some companies that, if all goes right, could already be our suppliers this year,” he said.

Jéssica Diaz, from Baby Edys, came from Mexico to check out FIT for the first time. “The Fair is very important, because it opens new markets in my country since Brazilian products have a design that is easily accepted anywhere in the world.

We have made excellent contacts. The products that have most called my attention are beach fashion due to the colors, design, texture and applications," she said.

From Chile, Pedro Rojas Castillo, of Chamitolandia, says he believes Brazil is a good market in which to establish commercial relations: “Brazilian products have good design, pretty prints, use interesting materials, and above all, are of high quality. We are trying to establish a good agreement with the exhibiters to satisfy both parties.”

This is the second time Greek buyer Kiki Ravanis, from Thera, comes to FIT. “I work with product imports. The Fair helps establish new contacts, see which products we can take to our country.

Many interesting things here, especially the party clothes and baptism dresses. And I was enchanted by the underwear products as well,” confessed Kiki.

ABIT also brought Argentine Martin Adamovsky, from Línea Globito, Mexican Eduardo Diaz Veja, from Kids Edy´s and Venezuelan Rossana Cazzaro, from Nenerias for Kids.

In its 31st edition, the Fair is the main one of its sector in the country and it is already part of the fashion business calendar.

It is considered a meeting place for segment buyers to do good business and check out the novelties and trends in a market that has a share of about 15% of the segment in Brazil.

At this edition, FIT generated business of about R$ 132 million, which corresponds to a 15% increase compared to the spring/summer edition of last year. About 14 thousand buyers were received from all over Brazil.

The event celebrates the debut of more than 30 new brands. “FIT is a business reference in the sector. At every edition, we have great demand for new exhibiters, which confirms the strength and importance of the event for professionals,” adds Humberto Rebonato, Fair director.

The 32nd edition of FIT 0/16, will present buyers with novelties for the Fall/Winter of 2009. The Fair will be held January 20-23, 2009, at Expo Center Norte.
