The Brazilian Association of Companies of Components for Leather, Footwear and Manufactured Goods (Assintecal) with the support of the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex–Brasil) participated in the China Technical Mission 2009.
The activity was centered on the study of the market strategies used to make products distinctive, referential cases and strategies that are possible to be applied in Brazil. Participants were Brazilian companies, members of the Estilo by Brasil Consortium, from São João Batista, Santa Catarina state.
The objective of the Mission was to find the point of intersection between the Local Productive Arrangement (LPA) – focused on the production of accessories, ornaments, women's footwear (especially shoes and sandals), Children's footwear – and China.
The Mission's activities started with the participation at the Shoes and Leather trade show, held from June 2nd to 4th in Guangzhou. After participating at “Shoes and Leather”, the group made technical visits to Chinese companies aiming to expand the perception of the whole Brazilian leather–footwear production chain as regards the importance of highlighting the attributes resulting from technology. The itinerary of visits in the city of Dongguan was conducted by consultant Giancarlo Medeiros, who helped identify opportunities in the Asian market.
According to the organizers, the results of this Mission will be presented to Assintecal's affiliates. In addition, the survey containing all the perceptions and opportunities offered by the Asian market will be compiled and published in printed form.
