Tanning Tech fairs well despite odds

Tanning Tech held in Bologna, during October 25-28, 2005 witnessed only a small fall in visitor numbers despite non-EU client difficulties scheduling their trip to Italy, says ASSOCMAC release.
Technology and chemistry tackle the crisis with a firm hand.
The fact that the leather-footwear-leather goods sector is going through radical reorganisation at all levels is nothing new.
The West conserves its niche - or if you prefer quality - production while the large quantities are made in the Far East: China and what we would call “satellite” manufacturing countries such as Vietnam and Indonesia.
It is perfectly clear that the sectors behind production such as technology and chemistry - the core focus of Tanning Tech (although with the due distinctions the same applies to hides, components and accessories) - have a dire need to operate as freely as possible with the countries that are central to the system.
However, something new and very worrying is happening: it has become a major undertaking for an operator from a developing country to obtain a visa for Italy.
A country such as Italy, which plays host to probably a few million illegal immigrants, is applying restrictions – which become insuperable barriers in some cases – to economic and commercial operators wishing to enter the country.
Those who invite them must also become guarantors of their guests' future! Tanning Tech experienced this first hand, particularly (but not only) when it invited numerous expert delegations from developing countries.
