Japan's Dr Ci:Labo launches formulated skin care in US

Japan's foremost laser skin specialist, Doctor Yoshinori Shirono, created Aqua-Collagen-Gel in 1999 when he couldn't find medically effective skin treatment products for his patients. The moisturizer proved so popular that he formed a company to produce and market the gel and other medically oriented treatment products, called Dr. Ci:Labo. Their initial product, Aqua-Collagen-Gel has since sold over 4,500,000 jars.
Sales to Top $170,000,000 USD by December 2005.
Combining cutting edge science with Asian herbal formulas, the Dr. Ci:Labo line today consists of specially created lines of treatment and nutritional products that make them the best selling medical cosmetic company in Japan, with a listing on the Tokyo Stock Exchange (1st section, # 4924) The company's magazine, CiLover enjoys a circulation of 1.2 million readers. In Japanese media, over 1,000 articles have featured Dr. Shirono and the company in the past four years. Dr. Shirono frequently serves as commentator for news and videos.
Aqua Collagen Gel moisturizes and replenishes the skin, in a cool, non-greasy formula containing marine collagen, hyaluronic acid and seaweed extract, along with special botanical essences. Gel has the ability to retain vast amounts of moisture, without letting it escape. As the structure of gel closely resembles the skin's "moisture retaining factor" it quickly penetrates the dermal layer, yet let's the skin breathe freely, allowing a fresh supply of oxygen to be delivered to the cells. The gel then creates and seals a moisturizing layer on the skin, forming an effective barrier against pollutants.
