Mawi to showcase her signature repertoire at LFW

UK-based accessory designer Mawi returns to her homeland after 12 years of establishing the infamous MAWI brand in London. Mawi is ready to return to her Indian roots with a spectacular show.

Creations from her latest collection ‘Indian Odyssey’ will be part of her collection at the upcoming Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2014.

The avant-garde fashion accessories designer will collaborate with one of India’s most celebrated fashion designers, Gaurav Gupta. Mawi will present thirty looks of bejeweled decadence that will be complimented by an outstanding collection by the Indian couturier. DHL, co-sponsors of Lakmé Fashion Week, will present the Mawi show on 13th March 2014.

The Manipur born designer spent most of her childhood travelling the world, an influence clearly manifested in Mawi’s signature juxtaposition of traditional and contemporary aesthetics. The homecoming showcase brings MAWI’s stratospheric vision to life through a meeting of cultures, craft and traditions.

The show is set to be one of the key highlights of the season, celebrating MAWI’s stellar debut on the Indian catwalk with Gaurav Gupta’s elegant designs, chronicling a retrospective journey through landmark MAWI pieces.

“I am very excited to showcase my collection in my home country for the first time. It’s an honor to be a part of Lakmé Fashion Week. I hope this feature on the Indian ramp is a first of many more to come”, says Mawi Keivom.
