Mango to open megastore in Italy's top commercial location

Mango, a clothing design and manufacturing company headquartered in Barcelona, is set to open the largest store in Italy on the former site of Mondadori, on Corso Vittorio Emanuele in Milan, one of the prestigious commercial locations in the country, by spring 2015.
The sales area is expected to be around 3000 square metres, distributed on three floors, and will stock all the brand’s lines including Mango, Mango Man, Mango Kids, Mango Sport & Intimates, and Violeta by Mango. This store would be the eighth in Milan, the company said.
Matteo Sgarbossa, Mango’s director of international retail said, “The opening of the Milan flagship store marks a turning point in Mango’s expansion in Italy and in the brand’s presence in the country. It is, without doubt, the most important Mango store opening in Italy and reflects its commitment and investment in said market, which will continue to grow in the coming years. This store opening follows the opening of the 2000 square metres megastore in Orio al Serio in Bergamo, which has been a major success since it opened in November 2014.”
Mango has 83 stores since it entered the Italian market in 2001 with the opening of its first store.
The apparel company opened its first store on Barcelona’s Passeig de Gràcia in 1984, and now has 2700 stores in 109 countries. The company closed the 2013 financial year with a consolidated group turnover for the Mango-MNG Holding of €1.846 billion, representing a 9 per cent increase on 2012, and a profit of €120.5 million, 9 per cent more than the previous year, with an EBITDA of €229.9 million.
In the Italian market alone, in 2013, the turnover was €46 million, making it Mango’s ninth largest market. (GK)
