In 20 years, Peak Performance, the ski wear and golf wear maker, has gone from being the little Åre company to becoming the largest brand of sports fashion wear in Scandinavia.
As part of the anniversary celebrations Peak Performance will be opening another office, the Peak Performance Mountain Office, in Åre, and will continue with the store expansion in Europe as well as sponsorship of new freeskiing and freestyle competitions.
Peak Performance was founded in 1986 by Stefan Engström while on a ski lift in Åre, a classic Swedish ski resort. With his passion for skiing and a strong interest in design, Engström together with some other top-name Swedish downhill skiers, started a company to create functional and attractive skiwear.
In the past, Engström enjoyed success as a professional skier in both Swedish and international championships. He also had a keen interest and experience in the clothing industry.
Now Peak Performance has grown into Scandinavia's largest clothing brand of functional sport fashions and is a two-time winner of the European Ski Award at ISPO (2002 and 2003). This past year, sales increased by 42 percent in Sweden alone, and sales are reported at about SEK 700 million for the split financial year of 2004/2005.
Peak Performance is also proud to have been voted as the most sought-after sports brand according to the latest survey of suppliers to Swedish stores conducted by Sportfack, the leading Swedish sports trade magazine.
