Filene's Basement opens in Springfield on Sept 21

Philadelphia area residents will soon have a new place to shop for the latest fall fashions at bargain prices when renowned off-price retailer Filene's Basement opens in Springfield on September 21, 2006.
The new 25,000 square-foot store is located at Marple Crossroads Shopping Center on Route 1 at Sproul Road.
Filene's Basement, the nearly one-hundred-year-old retailer, sells current designer and brand name fashions for men and women including career wear, sportswear, outerwear, intimate apparel, shoes and accessories.
The store will also sell children's clothes, fine jewelry and watches, luggage, fragrances, salon products and decorative home goods.
According to Mark Shulman, President of Filene's Basement, the company targets shoppers who want the higher-end, high-quality fashions and brands they see in department and specialty stores, but at a discounted price.
"Some of our customers can afford the full price, but love the idea of getting a bargain. Others are looking for fashion-magazine style, but want more value for their money," Shulman said.
Next month, October 20 at 8:00am, Filene's Basement will hold its famous Bridal Gown sale at the new Springfield store. Nicknamed "The Running of the Brides," customers line up very early in the morning to get first dibs on designer wedding gowns at deeply discounted prices.
