The maker of the iconic gold mesh handbags and exclusive fashion retailer Oroton Group Ltd has last month sold the license to market underperforming Canadian footwear brand ALDO in Australia and New Zealand.

Oroton is getting into shape for summer with a restructure of its business and with the likely sale of two of its brands Marcs and Morrissey businesses.

The appointed new chief executive, Sally Macdonald will focus on Oroton's two largest businesses, Oroton and Polo Ralph Lauren, with a drive to open more stores in Australia and New Zealand.

Ms Macdonald had inherited a business that reported a net loss of $9.44 million in the previous year has followed an eight per cent rise in sales revenue to $157.9 million this year.

Their goal now is to open more stores in Australia and in New Zealand as Orton has been so far under-represented.

Presently, the company's newest store in Carindale, Queensland is performing beyond expectations.

Oroton and Polo being durable brands and may not notice any effect while petrol prices go up.
