Winners of Drapers Footwear Awards 2007 announced

Drapers last night announced the winners of the Drapers Footwear Awards 2007. The awards ceremony, organised by the leading fashion business weekly Drapers, is a glittering industry event celebrating the best of footwear retailing across the UK and Irish Republic.

Comic Michael Macintyre, presented the 16 awards at The Hilton Park Lane, Wednesday 16 May. The categories range from rewarding the largest multiples to fledgling independents and student designers of the year.

Footwear Multiple of the Year went to Dune, a multiple retailer with a feel of an independent. This is the 2nd year running they won this Award, and with their business going from strength to strength, their measured and confident growth also saw them walk away with the highest accolade of the night – Footwear Retailer of the Year.

Best New Store went to Totally Phat in The Bullring, Birmingham. From a standing start barely 2 years ago, the store has grown to be the largest UK retailer of Heelys and a real kids footwear retail success story. Quirky plastic clog brand Crocs was named Brand of the Year, with the brand appealing to kids' specialists, high-end designers stores and menswear and womenswear retailers alike.

Retailer winners included: Footwear Etailer of the Year for Asos.com who have expanded their successful clothing business into footwear, with a rapidly growing portfolio; offering comfort across the board and not simply in their comfort ranges, led Marks & Spencer to be named Comfort Footwear Retailer of the Year; Maidstone-based The Golden Boot won Family Footwear Retailer of the Year for the 2nd year running.
