Keds is stepping out at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in New York. To kick off the spring 2008 season, Nanette Lepore, Lyn Devon and ADAM by Adam Lippes have chosen the iconic sneaker brand to add style and flare to their runways.
The styles that will hit the runway range from a whimsical lace-up printed wedge, to an embellished leather slip-on, and also include the classic lace-up Champion silhouette that has defined Keds iconic style since 1916.
The exclusive collaboration, Nanette Lepore for Keds, will appear on the runway for a third season. The latest styles combine Nanette's feminine and whimsical design with Keds' classic heritage and clean silhouettes.
Vibrant silks and a keen attention to embellishment take the raffia espadrille sneaker-wedges, lace-up peep-toe mules and sandals to new heights this season.
“Keds represents an American classic,” says Lepore. “With this season's Keds, we imagined a cross between a wedge and a sneaker; an unexpected look, playful and really sexy.
The shoe has the traditional rubber sole of a sneaker, but the body is made of mixed textures including highly textured burlap and fabulous printed satins. The floral patterns in hot colors are cross with neon bright pink laces it's a vivacious, feminine shoe.
Lyn Devon will show her entire spring summer 2008 collection in Keds' classic champion lace-up silhouette. Devon refined Keds existing color palette based on her design inspiration ofBauhaus beach architecture this season.
