Columbia to be home to famous off-price retailer Filene's Basement

Filene's Basement opens new store in Snowden square bringing brand names & bargains to Columbia. The legendary bargain emporium will open at 9031 Snowden Square Drive on September 19, 2007.
The Boston retailer, known for its great prices on brand names and designer apparel for women and men, will occupy 46,000 square-feet in the shopping center "We are excited about opening a store in here in Columbia," said David Garner, Vice President and Regional Manager of Filene's Basement.
"The Basement does especially well in upscale areas, where consumers are fashion- aware and label savvy, but enjoy the fun of finding a bargain."
Filene's Basement buys current, first quality fashions from some of the top American and European designers and sells it at prices significantly less than shoppers would pay in a department or specialty store.
"Our customers love the thrill of the hunt and bragging about the latest bargain they found at the Basement," said Garner. "Columbia shoppers can look forward to that same bargain hunting excitement."
The Basement carries career and casual clothing for men and women, plus outerwear, intimate apparel, shoes and accessories. The store also sells fine jewelry, watches, luggage, fragrances, salon products and decorative home goods.
There are three other Filene's Basements in the Baltimore area. The company opened in Towson at Towson Place in 2005. The following year a store was opened at the Hunt Valley Town Center in Cockeysville and this past spring a Filene's Basement opened at Lockwood Place, on the Inner Harbor.
Store hours for the new Filene's Basement will be 9:30am to 9:30pm Monday through Saturday and 11:00am to 7:00pm on Sunday.
