Legendary Thomas Bata, the founder of one of the biggest footwear conglomerates 'Bata Shoes', was given a life time achievement award on last Friday, for his outstanding contributions in building the huge empire.

Jim Prentice, Canada's Industry Minister awarded Thomas, at the 4th Corporate Diwali Dinner hosted to celebrate 25th anniversary of CIBC.
In the award ceremony, Bata said that he opened his first manufacturing facility Konnagar (near Kolkata) in 1932, making it one of his favourite countries and currently, with over 8000 employees serving customers in 932 stores.
Jim Prentice, the Minister appreciated the role played by CIBC which helped in enhancing trade relationship between India and Canada.
