In its third collection as a part of the inspirational series, Satya Paul unveiled its latest collection at a high spirited evening at the Grand Ballroom, the Hyatt Regency.
The evening was attended by Latika Khaneja, Tanisha Mohan, Sanjay and Sheena Sharma and Poonam Sethi amongst the crème de la crème of society.
Also present at the evening was Mr. Satya Paul himself – the man who started the Satya Paul label in 1985 (the legacy is carried forward by his son Puneet Nanda) and Mr. Sanjay Kapoor, MD – Genesis Colors.
The show was choreographed by Harmeet Bajaj and many top models such as Dipanita Sharma, Krishna Somani, Lakshmi Rana, Sonalika Oberoi, Tina Chatwal, Sapna Kumar, Bhawna Sharma and Sampada Inamdar walked the ramp in Satya Paul creations.
The collection that Satya Paul showcased is inspired by the paintings of two artists René Magritte and Pablo Picasso. René Magritte, a Belgian surrealist artist was well known for a number of witty and amusing images.
One of his most famous paintings is 'The Treachery of Images' that shows a pipe, Magritte painted the words 'This is not a pipe'(Ceci n'est pas une pipe') below the image of a pipe, which seems a contradiction but is actually true.
Magritte points out that no matter how closely through realism-art we come to depicting an item accurately, we never do catch the item itself: we cannot smoke tobacco with a picture of a pipe.
Capturing this element of tongue in cheek mystery, the Satya Paul collection inspired by René Magritte displays a juxtaposition of ordinary objects in an unusual context, giving new meanings to familiar things.
