Tandy Brands Accessories Inc announced that it has completed the rebuilding of its executive management team with the addition of two new executives: Hilda McDuff joins as Chief Merchandising Officer (CMO) and Kristin Sperling as Vice President of Sourcing. Ms. McDuff and Ms. Sperling are two of five new senior executives that have joined the company in 2009 and will integrate with existing experienced management to lead the company's growth going forward.

“We have now assembled the management team that will provide the vision and leadership to drive the company's future growth and success,” said Mr. Rod McGeachy, President and Chief Executive Officer. “We have focused on building a senior team with proven talent and skills that will help us build competitive advantages.

These management additions significantly upgrade the company's capabilities in areas such as product development, strategic planning, product sourcing, performance management, marketing, supplier relationships and key account management. And they share a passion for excellence and integrity with the existing team members.”

As CMO, a new position at Tandy Brands, Ms. McDuff will oversee the company's product lifecycle management and product development activities. Ms. McDuff has more than 20 years' experience in the apparel and accessories industry. Most recently, she served as Vice President of Men's and Ladies Merchandising at Harold's Stores. Prior to that, she worked for 10 years with HanesBrands in various management and sales roles, including Vice President of Sales in the Customer Management Group.

Kristin Sperling, new Vice President of Sourcing, will spearhead the company's product execution and supplier relationship management, a crucial role in driving quality and competitive pricing. She was Vice President—Sourcing and Production at Concept One Accessories prior to joining Tandy Brands. She has more than 20 years of sourcing and production expertise, having held many operations positions at The Gap and the Accessory Design Group.

As Ms. Sperling transitions into her new role, Tandy's Senior Vice President of Operations, David Lawhon, has announced his retirement from the company, effective June 30, 2009.

“David Lawhon has played a pivotal role in driving Tandy's success for the past 45 years,” said Mr. McGeachy. “I don't think that there is a position or role he hasn't filled in his tenure. As such, he has shared a wealth of information with me as I have joined Tandy. Everyone at Tandy congratulates him on his long career and wishes him the best as he moves on to the next phase of his life.”

The other executives that have joined Tandy Brands this year are:
As Chief Performance Officer, Sue Elliott will be responsible for developing and instituting management processes including performance evaluation and employee development. Most recently, she was President of Insight Executive Coaching & Consulting. Prior to that, she held senior management positions in human resources at both Michael's Stores and TGIFriday's.
