DSA honors Damas Jewellery

Damas, the renowned jewellery and watch retailer, was honoured recently by the UAE Down Syndrome Association for lending its valuable support towards the Walkaton held at The Dubai Mall to mark the World Down Syndrome Day.
The event was held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Majid Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Culture and Arts Authority. It was organized by the UAE Down Syndrome Association as an annual event commemorating the year's activities and to display its appreciation towards those establishments which had lent it their support.
The event was presided over by Sonia Al Hashimi, President of the UAE Down Syndrome Association, who thanked the event's sponsors and praised its success. It was attended by a select group of volunteers, government officials and other individuals.
The 800m Walkathon was organized in support of global activities which were hosted on World Down Syndrome Day with the mission to bring the community together in support of children and adults with the world's most prevalent birth defect.
Down syndrome or Down's syndrome is a chromosomal disorder caused by the presence of all or part of an extra 21st chromosome. It is the most commonly occurring chromosomal condition and one in every 733 babies worldwide is born with Down syndrome. The disorder occurs in people of all races and economic levels. The UAE Down Syndrome Association is a group which supports children with the condition, their parents and caregivers with the aim to provide a better quality of life as also offer them an opportunity to play their unique role in society.
