ALROSA & DMCC to meet in Dubai from Dec 5-8, 2005

Russian diamond maker ALROSA Co Ltd announced that on December 5–8, 2005 a joint delegation of ALROSA and OAO PO Kristall (Smolensk) will be in Dubai to meet with representatives of the diamond business from the UAE and other countries of the region. Alexander Nichiporuk, President of ALROSA, and Maxim Shkadov, CEO of Smolensk Kristall, heads the delegation.
The delegation will have a meeting with Sultan Sulayem, Chairman of the Dubai Metals and Commodities Centre (DMCC).
Also they expect to be received by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and UAE Defense Minister. In the framework of the International Watch & Jewellery Dubai the Russian delegation will take part in a round table discussion with representatives of the regional diamond elite (from Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrein, Quatar, UAE, Sultanate of Oman).
The parties will discuss promising joint prospects: manufacture by Smolensk Kristall of Dubai special cut for the local market, technical assistance to set up the UAE's first diamond cutting and polishing factory, information exchanges between DMCC and ALROSA, organization of Seasons of Russian Diamonds at the Dubai Diamond Exchange.
A presentation of the first in the Arabian Peninsular jewellery collection under the Kristall brand is also planned.
ALROSA Co Ltd is a closed-type joint-stock company, successor to the enterprises, organizations and divisions of the former YakutAlmaz Association, Committee for Precious Metals and Precious Gemstones (Gokhran of the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation) and the Almazjuvelirexport Foreign Trade Association specialized in sorting, initial processing and supply of rough diamonds which were incorporated into the Company's structure.
